Our Story

The story of Blue Dog Printing & Design began in 1999, when we stopped at the Brandywine Valley SPCA to pick out a pup. Among all the pitbulls and rottweilers sat a dog who got our attention because she was different…her fur was dyed blue.

Four years later, we decided to expand on Debi’s already thriving design company (Designing Wright) and offer digital printing. Their new company needed a name, on that was special…significant…unique. Knowing that we wanted to create a new facet of the business that helped its customers stand out from the competition, we were inspired by our quirky, loveable dog. As soon as Bill said “Blue Dog” out loud, we knew it was the right name. For the complete story, read more.

After servicing the graphic design and digital printing needs of customers for six months, the demand for large format printing became prevelent, so we added another capability to our ever-growing mix. With a 60″ printer, we started firing off banners, posters and trade show signage. We can protect our large format printing with lamination, and mount onto foamcore, coroplast, gatorboard or sintra for durability.

Ever try to print envelopes through your desktop printer and it either gets jammed, smeared or even eaten? We were pretty tired of that frustration ourselves and invested in a full color digital envelope printer. We are able to print customized envelopes, addressed with full color graphics…creating a stronger message to get the mail opened.

In 2009, Blue Dog moved into a space double its original size. This expanded work area allowed us to be poised for growth and offer our customers even more product options. We started building a showroom of promotional products and then in 2013, partnered up with Sue Casso of Custom Printing & Promotions. Sue has brought a wealth of industry knowledge to the Blue Dog mix, that allows us to broaden our range of capabilities.

In an effort to maintain relevancy, we shifted our focus to marketing and web design in 2014. Our web team continues its education by attending seminars, workshops and classes to keep abreast of the latest methods in an ever-changing digital environment.

Blue Dog Printing & Design is committed to providing its clients with marketing, graphic and printing solutions that not only fit their immediate needs, but will also allow their message to evolve with their company’s growth.

We look forward to working with you…

Bill and Debi Friedmann
